Performing Arts in Edinburgh

When deciding on a suitable performing arts school for your child, there will be questions that need answering first. For example, what are the time commitments – ‘How often are the classes held?’ and ‘How long do the classes last?’

You will also need to consider cost. In addition to registration fees, you may also need to pay for costumes, shoes, exam fees, performance costs and tickets to see your child perform.

Also, bear in mind the most popular schools have long waiting lists.

When considering all the options, do remember that, whatever your ultimate choice, children will acquire a solid foundation of performing arts skills that will help them on the wider stage of life.

Find dance classes for all ages at Shapes Studio, Leith, taught by fantastic resident teacher Ashley Jack. For the youngest movers, both parent and child learn simple dance steps, building up to a fun routine: young infants can enjoy the movement from the comfort of a sling, while toddlers dance alongside, with playtime after. For school-age children, classes run after school, where they'll learn hip hop and house dance in a fun and encouraging environment, building confidence and creativity.
