"Beauty" and the bonfire planned for brewery

We wouldn’t normally be writing about Bonfire Night in February but it’s great news that one much-loved local attraction, Hillside Brewery in Longhope, has had a burst of optimism and scheduled some real live family events for later this year. The first date for your calendar is a “beautifully daft” production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at the brewery’s outside theatre (bring your own cushions) on Friday 6 August, 7pm, £12 (adult)/£10 (u16). IK Productions, known for their versions of ‘The Sword in the Stone’ and ‘The Three Musketeers’ promise a brand new comedy adaptation of this famous fairy tale.

Later in the year, an event that was so sorely missed in 2020, the brewery’s legendary Bonfire Night will be back on Sunday 7 November, £20 per car, with its roaring fire, hog roast, and craft beers for the grown ups and plenty for the kids including retro popcorn and candyfloss.

As ever, in the current climate, we must keep our fingers firmly crossed that the pandemic comes under control but, with the vaccination drive in full swing and infections falling, it’s looking hopeful for a more normal 2021.
