Cheltenham goes to the movies this weekend

Enjoy free screenings of family film classics in Imperial Gardens

Look out for a series of fabulous free family films this weekend at Cheltenham’s Big Screen in the Gardens, the giant screen erected in the town’s Imperial Gardens, which has been broadcasting the Tokyo Olympics, BBC Proms and cricket this summer. Friday 13 August sees screenings of Disney favourites ‘Coco’ and ‘Toy Story 4’ plus the original 1969 version of ‘The Italian Job’ starring Michael Caine.

On Saturday 14 August the 2019 version of ‘The Lion King’, ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and ‘Mamma Mia’ are scheduled, with more Disney fun courtesy of ‘WALL-E’ on Sunday 15 August, plus ‘The Big Miracle’, a moving true story about rescuing whales trapped in the Arctic. A number of local climate charities will provide information to the public alongside the Sunday screenings, to discuss the issues raised in the films.
