Free summer holiday activities for Stroud children
Every child in Stroud can now enjoy an extra free summer holiday activity following additional funding for children and families in the district.
Among the activities on offer include swimming, gym sessions, fitness classes, DJ sessions, Forest Green Rovers tickets, and visits to Slimbridge Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust and Berkeley Castle, all free-of-charge under the scheme.
The activities are being funded by Stroud District Council's Community Outbreak Management Fund, as a direct response to the difficulties many families face during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Due to high demand, each local family qualifies for just one activity event under the scheme over the holiday period.
The council says its Holiday Activity Fund for children who are eligible for free school meals has proved very popular, so with its partners it has arranged this second set of free activities for all children in the district.
“We understand and know all too well that the last 18 months have been hard for so many families in the county,” said Councillor Chris Brine, Chair of Stroud District Council Community Services and Licensing Committee.
“I am pleased that we are able to offer more children more free activities during the summer holiday.”
