HAP spells Happy Christmas for Gloucestershire children
Children from across Gloucestershire can sign up for four days of free local activities during the Christmas holidays. Activities include sport, music, dance, science and arts & crafts, with face-to-face sessions at venues in every part of the county. The scheme also offers online activities which families can try at home, including fun experiments, dance and craft ideas.
They’re all part of a winter edition of the Holiday Activities Programme (HAP) and Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme that Gloucestershire County Council ran for 16 days over the summer, which now also take place between Monday 20 and Thursday 23 December. The scheme is funded by a £1.39 million grant from the Department of Education.
HAP activities are open to all Gloucestershire children while activities on the HAF programme are for those aged 4 to 16 eligible for free school meals. They include a free meal and activity packs.
Many sessions feature in both programmes and provide food for all children taking part. Families can sign up for specific activities on the council’s Children Activities Booking Site. Those who registered for the summer programmes are already enrolled on the the winter edition.
