‘Horrible Histories’, Roald Dahl and ‘Cinderella’ are all at The Sub Rooms this year
History is never more fun than when you learn the things they don’t want to teach you in school. ‘Horrible Histories: Terrible Tudors’ is a great family show which charts the horrible parts of Tudor history. It’s on at the The Sub Rooms, Stroud, Tue 26 Jul with a matinee and an evening performance.
From Henry VII through to Elizabeth I, you’ll hear the legends and lies about the Tudors. You’ll learn the fate of Henry VIII’s famous wives and his deadly disagreement with the Pope. Bloody Mary I and poorly Edward VI also appear to tell their horribly interesting stories. And, as the Horrible Histories team says themselves, “It’s history with the nasty bits left in!”
The Sub Rooms’ next children’s show on Tue 25 Oct is ‘Roald Dahl and The Imagination Seekers’ is a specially commissioned theatrical and interactive experience for families. Delivered through performance, games and interactive play it explores the famous author’s abundant and wonderful stories such as ‘The Twits,’ ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,’ and ‘The BFG’. It only has a single afternoon performance, so get cracking and buy those tickets before they’re gone.
The classic pantomime ‘Cinderella’ comes to the Stroud venue over the Christmas period from Thu 22 Dec to Mon 2 Jan. Cinderella must draw on all her strength to make it to the royal ball, despite the wishes of her evil stepmother and ugly stepsisters. And, with the help of a fairy-godmother she meets her Prince Charming. The panto is brought to you by the same team behind last year’s highly popular ‘Beauty and the Beast;’ which earned rave reviews including one from celebrity and movie actor Keith Allen who says, “Absolutely hilarious! Don’t miss it. Stroud should be proud!”
