Families around Cheltenham will soon be able to access new equipment at 10 parks and play areas. The equipment is supplied as part of a £221,000 revamp supported by Cheltenham Borough Council and Up Hatherley Parish Council. The equipment is a mix of new and refurbished play equipment, while the parks and play areas benefiting from the equipment are: Caernarvon Park, Hillview, Whaddon Rec, Ewan’s Farm, Springfields Park, Humpty Dumps, Barrington Avenue, Chalford Avenue, Pilgrove Way and George Reading.
Caenarvon Park, Hillview and Whaddon Rec play open soon, with the others open in time for when schools return in September. Whaddon Rec has a new play barn, Ewan’s farm will have a selection of diggers and trucks, and Humpty Dumps is to get a new play castle. The other spaces receive a mix of new and refurbished play equipment such as slides, ladders, carousel, new picnic tables and see-saws designed for multiple children.
Green space development officer, Malcolm Walls, says, “the improvements are part of our five-year improvement program for our green space. Cheltenham is known for being a town within a park and we hope the new kit will make a big difference to our families’ quality play time together.”
