Michael Morpurgo, Cressida Cowell, M.G. Leonard (pictured) and young naturalist Dara McAnulty are among the top names lined up for a brand new children’s book festival inspired by nature. Wild Wonder takes place at Westonbirt Arboretum over the August bank holiday weekend and features a host of activities, including masterclasses, storytelling, workshops, talks, trails and guided walks. Other guests include TV presenter Jess French, authors Emma Carroll and Michelle Paver as well as illustrators Martin Brown, Rachel Bright, Sophy Henn and Yuval Zommer. Watch out for guest appearances by The Gruffalo and Little Nutbrown Hare too.
“After everything that we have collectively been through in the last few years, we felt the time was right for a children’s book festival all about the wonders of nature,” the organisers say. “Our programme celebrates everything that is amazing about children’s books, the people who create them and the amazing outdoors. Trees and animals – what’s not to love?”
