Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre has announced an exciting new musical production of ‘Winnie The Pooh’ with music by the Sherman Brothers and Pooh’s creator A.A. Milne. After a successful 2021 premiere in New York, Milne’s most famous characters Pooh, Christopher Robin, Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Rabbit, Owl, and Tigger come home to the UK with this stage adaption. The show runs between Thu 31 Aug and Sat 2 Sep 2023 with the specific performance times available online. Tickets cost between £20 and £29.
This production adds to The Everyman’s exciting programme for children and families, with shows this festive season including ‘The Snow Queen’, which follows best friends Gerda and Kai through a magical adventure. Kai loses their heart in the snow and it’s up to Gerda to journey through the Snow Queen’s world to bring it home. The show runs between Thu 24 Nov and Sat 31 Dec with specific performance times available online. Tickets are £10 for everyone.
Next April, Michel Rosen’s ‘Unexpected Twist’, adapted by Olivier Award-nominated director James Dacre and BAFTA-winning writer Roy Williams, runs at the theatre. The show combine’s Rosen’s story with the plot of Charles Dickens’ ‘Oliver Twist’ and follows Shona, the new girl in school, studying Dickens’ classic while struggling to stay out of trouble. It runs between Tue 18 Apr and Sat 22 Apr 2023 with specific performance times available online. Tickets range from £15 to £34.
Looking further ahead, after successful West End and Broadway runs, ‘Shrek the Musical’ comes to the Everyman for five days as part of a UK-wide tour between Tue 12 Mar and Sun 17 Mar 2024. The musical follows the beloved characters of Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona as they embark on a spectacular quest across a fairy-tale world and encounter villains like Lord Farquaad.
