‘Big Story Writing Challenge’ Winners Have Works Published By Fonetti
The winners of The Leeds Castle ‘Big Story Writing Challenge’ are to have their winning entries published on Fonetti, the listening bookshop platform, (www.fonetti.com), who, in partnership with leading publication, The Primary Times, sponsored the event.
The competition invited children from 5-13 years of age to enter an original fictional story of up to 900 words with the theme of ‘One Golden Day’. This theme was inspired by an event when Henry VIII stayed at Leeds Castle en route to meet the King of France for a jamboree, since known as ‘The Field of Cloth of Gold’.
National treasure, Clare Balding, was in charge of judging the 20 finalists, split into categories 5-9 and 10-13 years of age. The winners were announced as:
- 5-9 years of age: Leyla-Maria Tezer
- 10-13 years of age: Ralph Hayward
As well as having their stories published on Fonetti, winners will receive:
- A family stay at Leeds Castle’s Knight’s Glamping
- Tickets to the Fireworks Spectacular 2021
- A collection of fun prizes
- And, a signed copy of Clare Balding’s latest book.
