Can you Bake a Difference?

Time to put on your aprons and cook up some delicious treats!

Sammy de Laszlo looks like any other 17-year-old, happily playing with his Lego or on his Xbox.

Until November 2018, he was trying to chase his brother but was unable to catch him — because Sammy lives with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, an incurable, progressive genetic disorder that affects children around the world.

One in 3,500 boys is born with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, with around 2,500 children currently affected in the UK.

Over ten years ago, Sammy’s parents, Oliver and Tricia de Laszlo, launched Bake a Difference to raise awareness and funds for vital medical research.

Oliver de Laszlo said: “It’s amazing to think Bake a Difference has been going for over ten years! That’s down to the incredible support from families across the UK — and our friends at Muscular Dystrophy UK. Thank you for your continued support.”

This year, families, schools, and businesses are invited to help raise some dough by hosting bake sales for Muscular Dystrophy UK — and show off their showstoppers and delicious treats. It could be the secret ingredient to making a difference for people living with muscle-wasting conditions.
