Famous faces to help primary pupils back to school with BBC Live Lessons
- Footballers Theo Walcott and Georgia Stanway kick off the new term.

Following on from its successful home schooling initiative, Bitesize Daily, BBC Education continues to support pupils and teachers throughout the autumn term with a wealth of curriculum-based content including the return of the popular Live Lessons.
The weekly Live Lessons, aimed at primary children, will see a range of famous faces help bring to life numeracy and literacy through a range of different themes. The first lesson sees BBC Education partnering with the Premier League as footballers, Theo Walcott and Georgia Stanway, kick off the new season looking at wellbeing and resilience.
It will be presented by BBC Radio 1's Katie Thistleton and CBBC's Hacker T. Dog with popular teacher, Mr Smith, from Bitesize Daily also featuring.
The interactive live broadcast is designed to help pupils with the transition back to school and footballers, Theo and Georgia, discuss their tips for resilience, ways to 'bounce back' and how to overcome challenges. The lesson will encourage children to communicate their feelings, listen to others and think about their physical, mental and emotional health. The lesson will suit all primary children, with teachers encouraged to tune into Wellbeing: Bouncing Back To Class live at www.bbc.co.uk/teach/live-lessons from 2pm on Monday 14th September. It will then remain on the website to view for those unable to watch live.

The curriculum-related Live Lessons will continue throughout the autumn term, with shows for KS1 using themes including pirates, space and gardening to bring to life numeracy and literacy. For KS2 pupils, the shows will tackle core subjects with topics such as the environment, Black History Month and, on Monday 9th November, a special lesson themed around Philip Pullman’s acclaimed trilogy His Dark Materials featuring young star Lewin Lloyd (Roger Parslow), to tie in with the BBC One and BBC iPlayer premiere.
The lessons will also feature teachers from Bitesize Daily along with more well-known faces to bring schools together for some fun and interactive shared learning. Teachers are also supported with curriculum-relevant resources and activities from experts for their pupils to do. Classes will run each Monday (excluding Monday 26 October) until Monday 30 November. Alongside the Live Lessons, BBC Bitesize Autumn 2020 is providing a range of adapted resources to support the new curricula. The new content focuses on this term’s topics for Years 1-9 and revision content for students in Years 10 and 11, as well as catch up lessons for primary children in the key subjects of Maths and English.
