Don't miss Wellington Illuminova! Read review here.

Wellington Country Park invited me to Wellington Illuminova and I jumped at the chance to go along with my young family. The experience begins upon entering where even the carpark is strung with lights and a perfect photo opportunity awaits when you can stand inside a huge present made of lights.

The light trail was wonderful, you follow a lovely story which is read aloud as you walk through each section, with music, light displays and special effects. My four-year-old exclaimed “this is magical”.

There are then interactive elements so that children (and adults) can get involved with the sound and light, plus the train has had a very festive makeover.

Plenty of opportunities for refreshments, the children toasted giant marshmallows for the first time, plus delicious waffles, hot chocolate, mulled wine and more is on offer.

It was amazing to see Wellington County Park in such a different light (literally) – what they have done with the Enchanted Forest is so pretty and Dinosaur Trail is “roar-some” according to my six-year-old.

The display at the end of the light walk is the perfect poetic ending to the 'wow' evening.

This trail is a great length for families and very accessible for buggies and wheelchairs, with toilets, café and shop onsite too.

Check out some of my photos below!

Wellington Illuminova is running until 23rd December and there is still a selection of dates with availability!
