Chiltern Open Air Museum is reopening!
Chiltern Open Air Museum, in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire, is re-opening for the 2025 season on Saturday, March 8th. After a winter break, the museum will once again invite visitors to explore its quirky collection of historic buildings, immersive exhibits, and beautiful natural surroundings.
The museum provides an opportunity to take a journey through time to experience living history, with over 30 historic buildings, including an earth cottage, 1940s post-war prefab, blacksmith’s forge and historic farm. Visitors can discover how people lived and worked in the past.
This year there are a number of exciting new and returning events, including a Medieval Festival over Easter from the 19 to 21 April with living history displays, knights, archery and Medieval court. Medieval Jousting will be returning on the 28 and 29 June. The epic Napoleonic Weekend on the 31 May and 1 June will be returning with a bang of canon and gunfire as 200 re-enactors take over the site with spectacular battle displays, living history and cavalry horses.
‘We’re thrilled to welcome back visitors to Chiltern Open Air Museum for the 2025 season,” said Helen Light, General Manager at the museum. “Our team have been busy creating new interpretation and carrying out conservation works. We’re excited to be launching a new digital guide, we will be hosting The Longest Yarn exhibition throughout August, and we have a spectacular events programme planned.’
