New picture book by Margaret Anne Suggs looks at issues of migration, acceptance and community
Celebrated Irish illustrator Margaret Anne Suggs has written and illustrated The Dandelion’s Tale, an allegorical story about migration depicted through a family of dandelions. The story has already received international recognition, having been previously longlisted for the dPictus Unpublished Picturebook Showcase.
Ideal for introducing children to the concepts of migration and settlement and some of the challenges faced by refugees and asylum seekers, The Dandelion’s Tale helps nurture empathy in the youngest children.
Through this gentle and beautifully illustrated book, children will not only see the benefits of embracing all the flowers in the garden but will also understand the importance of accepting those who may be new in their local community.
