The collection at Keswick Museum was founded by the local Literary and Scientific Society in 1873, with a particular focus on Natural Sciences. Admission to the museum is free and it is open all year, Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday, April to October, 11am to 4pm. The museum has full accredited status and is housed in a listed building established in 1670 for the education of poor girls. Abbott Lodge, Penrith
