War Horse

The National Theatre’s acclaimed production returns in an all-new UK and Ireland tour. War Horse is an unforgettable theatrical experience which takes audiences on an extraordinary journey from the fields of rural Devon to the trenches of First World War France. Based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo, this powerfully moving and imaginative drama, filled with stirring music and songs, is a show of phenomenal inventiveness. At its heart are astonishing life-sized horses by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, who bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to thrilling life on stage.

At the outbreak of World War One, Joey, young Albert’s beloved horse, is sold to the Cavalry and shipped to France. He’s soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary journey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in No Man’s Land. Albert, who remained on his parents’ Devon farm, cannot forget Joey. Though still not old enough to enlist, he embarks on a treacherous mission to find Joey and bring him home.

The Star Who Danced

It’s a frosty Christmas Eve and everyone is tucked up in bed,
But above our heads a shooting star begins its journey. 
A sparkling dance across the sky, weaving through the clouds,
gliding with the birds and skimming past the snowflakes!

A sensory delight for 0-3 year olds, this non-verbal show will engage young audiences through beautiful dance, live music and light. The performance will end with space for further exploration, play and festive photos.

Children must be accompanied by at least one adult.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be spectacularly brought to life with an abundance of comedy, sensational song and dance numbers, fabulous costumes and stunning scenery. Dayzee and the World of Tomorrow

This festive season, join Dayzee and her dad in the not-so-far-off-future, a magical future where bicycles fly, flies talk and mangrove forests sing. Future Tourism is a booming business and the wormhole Dayzee discovered in her Dad‘s Pigbat shed has come in very, very handy. Of course, visitors from the past do have to get their memories wiped before returning home (to avoid a catastrophic rift in space time), but that doesn‘t seem to be putting them off. The future is very cool…

But when a stowaway from 2024 misses the last shuttle home. Dayzee finds herself on the adventure of a lifetime!

Merry Christmas ya filthy animals. One 8-year-old boy finds himself home alone over Christmas when his family forget to take him on holiday. When a pair of burglars come snooping he must find a way to fend for himself and put his best trouble-making skills to good use as he protects the family house.

Will Cinderella be able to break free and go to the ball with the help of her trusty sidekicks Buttons and Poppers? Will her Fairy Godmother find the time to sprinkle some magic in between all her costume changes? And, in the end, will true love conquer all?

The Elves and the Shoemaker

Exeter Northcott Theatre and PaddleBoat Theatre Company are excited to present a brand-new version of the beloved fairytale, The Elves and the Shoemaker.

In the nooks and crannies of the old Shoemaker’s shop live the Elves. These cheeky stowaways live off the odds and ends left behind at the end of the day; shoelaces, scraps of leather and sandwich crumbs. They stay hidden from the big world – that’s just how they like it. But this Christmas, all is not well in the Shoe Shop. Sales are dwindling and customers are looking for shoes elsewhere. When it looks like the shop might get closed for good, it’s time for the Elves and the Shoemaker to work together and save their home!

Beloved Exeter-based PaddleBoat Theatre Company bring their trademark inventive style to this highly interactive 50-minute adventure, full of clowning, puppetry and a magical miniature world. After the performance, meet the Elves and ask them your questions about life as an Elf.

The Three Musketeers

A swashbuckling adventure set in and around the royal court of France, adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas.

Set in the 1620s, a young swordsman comes to Paris, seeking to join the Royal Guard. Initially refused, but determined to prove his worth and loyalty, he leads in thwarting plots against the King and Queen by the King’s chief advisor – Cardinal Richelieu – while making friends with three of the King’s Musketeers. With beautiful costuming, dramatic action scenes, and a fast moving story, performed by a team of professional actors aged 11 – 65 from around south Devon, this is a production not to be missed. The family tradition that is Christmas Pantomime is back bigger and better than ever this year with the rags to riches tale of Cinderella at Exmouth Pavilion.

Back for their tenth year, with an all star cast including Coronation Street’s and Doctors Scott Wright as Prince Charming, Brittany Feeney from Miss Great Britain as Cinderella and Exmouth’s own Amy Blackwell as the Fairy Godmother.

This year we will also be introducing the fabulous Joseph Michael as an Ugly Sister and the truly wicked Chelsey Thorley Earp as Baroness Von Hardup. Plus the ever popular Stuart Earp and Jordan Bateman return alongside two adorable Shetland ponies in every performance!

'Around The World In 80 Sleighs' is a festive spectacular incorporating the traditions of a range of different countries through music and song. It really is the most wonderful time of the year, so it’s no surprise that everyone at the North Pole is super-excited as Christmas draws near! Father Christmas is busy making toys, Dotty the Elf is decorating the Christmas tree and Dasher the Reindeer is getting presents onto his sleigh, but then they meet a lost penguin who has never even heard of Christmas…Impossible! But how to teach him all about Christmas? Dare they open the door marked For Christmas Emergencies Only? Can you help unleash the magic of Christmas by pulling one of Santa’s Christmas Crackers?

 Join Father Christmas and friends for a fun, festive, musical adventure to discover the wonder of Christmas – you may even get to pull a cracker with Dotty the Elf!

Santa’s Christmas Cracker is a 45 minute, interactive family show particularly suitable for 2-8 year-olds. Afterwards the adventure continues as each child gets to meet Father Christmas and receive a specially wrapped present from him. It’s the most Christmassy Christmas show ever, HO-HO-HO!

Cinderella dreams of escaping her life as a servant to her wicked stepmother and two hilariously vain stepsisters, Chianti and Chardonnay. With her father, Baron Hardup, and her loyal friend Buttons too busy avoiding the vilage brokers, can a glamorous night at the royal ball with a handsome prince be the answer to all her problems?

But wait... what about  the cheese-obsessed mice, the mysterious Dandini, and a strange pedlar woman collecting sticks in the forest?

Go along for a fun-filled family show with toe-tapping songs, lots of laughs, and plenty of opportunities to boo, hiss, cheer, and clap! Let the Teignmouth Players bring the magic of panto to life as they remind us all to follow oue dreams and believe in a little magic!

The Snow Queen Puppet Show

The Toy Maker is in his workshop, making toys for the children when all of a sudden they come to life to tell the story of The Snow Queen. 

Follow Gerda on her adventures as she sets out to rescue her brother Kai from the evil Snow Queen who is holding him prisoner in her ice palace and meet the magical creatures who help her on her mission. 

It's a wonderful tale of The Snow Queen told through the eyes of puppets Gerda and Kai. Join them on their adventures.

Watch Paul Batten of Theatrix Arts perform this magical story through puppets, changing scenery, music and sound effects. Then meet the puppets and create you very own Puppet of a character from the show!

Once Upton a Time in Pantoland - Shaldon Theatre Company

The wicked Witch Nevergreen has stolen the pages from the Pantoland story books with the help of her Minion, she plans to ruin Pantoland forever. But help is at hand, her effervescent brother Spirit must bring some magic and sparkle to help our characters get their pages back to their stories.

With a little help from the glamourous Dame Dolly Diamond and her hapless son Doug, lovely Lizzie Lemon and the new arrival in Pantoland - Poppy there are plenty of adventures ahead.

Jack will have to climb the Beanstalk to see off the dreaded Giant and his sidekick Fleshcreep, Cinderella will have to tackle her meddling step-sisters Drizzilla and Prizzilla, Sleeping Beauty will need to be woken from her sleep and Dick will have to rescue his puss - Socks from the evil King Rat!

Returning to the Pavilions Teignmouth after their sell out performances of 9 To 5 The Musical, Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz and NODA award winning Robinson Crusoe, Shaldon Theatre Company are excited to bring you yet another fantastic traditional pantomime for all the family.
