Smoking remains one of the leading preventable cause of illness and early death, shortening life by around 10 years on average. The good news is that quitting at any age improves health and can add years back.

October/Stoptober is the perfect time as smokers across the country aim to quit for good. It's a fact that people who get professional stop smoking support are three times more likely to quit successfully than those who try to stop without help.

Join Mapperton’s mischievous cat, Pippa, for a magical Halloween adventure from Sunday 25th to Saturday 31st October, 11am–3pm daily.

Step into Christmas with Forest Holme Hospice Charity’s Merry Mile, a festive family event featuring a magical Santa’s Grotto, kindly supported by Haskins Garden Centre.

Taking place on Sunday 6th December from 11am, families can dash, dance, skip or stroll a one-mile seafront route from Branksome Dene to Branksome Chine Beach and back.

Christmas fancy dress is encouraged, with Hot Radio providing plenty of festive tunes along the way. After crossing the finish line, younger participants can visit Santa in his grotto, making the Merry Mile a fun and festive day out for all the family this Christmas.

Protect winter moments that matter for your children

Flu can leave children seriously unwell and every winter thousands of children end up needing hospital care.

 

Getting the free NHS flu vaccination can help keep your child safe and also help to protect those around them, such as vulnerable family members who could also become very ill.

 

The vaccine is offered to children aged 2 to 3 and school-aged children from Reception to Year 11. It is usually given as a quick and painless nasal spray.

 

School-aged children will be invited through their school or the School Age Immunisation Service. For children aged 2 to 3, contact your GP surgery or book with a participating pharmacy.
