Reading Schools promotes reading across Edinburgh

Hundreds of schools across Scotland are working towards their Reading Schools accreditation and embracing reading for pleasure. Reading Schools, run by Scottish Book Trust, celebrates and supports schools as they build reading cultures for their learners and communities. Schools can work towards core, silver, and gold levels with their accreditation lasting three years.

Reading for pleasure is central in supporting equity and wellbeing, improving attainment across the curriculum, and boosting critical thinking, creativity, empathy, and resilience. Through Reading Schools, schools can also benefit from Scottish Book Trust’s support, training, and opportunities such as grants and world-class author events. All schools in Edinburgh are invited to join the Reading Schools community.
