The Magic Circus Reader's Review

The Magic Circus

Primary Times reader quote

"The show was really funny and the magic was impressive. I loved the sissors trick I helped with."

- Isla aged 10.

Everyone loves the circus, and everyone loves magic. Put the two together and you have Magic Den's highly entertaining, circus-themed show filled with clever conjuring, awe-inspiring illusion and family-friendly comedy.

Airdrie-based Denis Shields fits the profile of the quintessential children's entertainer - brightly-dressed, fast-talking and high-octane, yet warm and engaging. All the classic magic tricks make an appearance - wobbly wands, card tricks, (dis) appearing objects - and they're all neatly woven together by circus tales and child-friendly humour...with a few grown up laughs thrown in too. The guillotine trick is dubbed 'Cecil's Revenge' and dedicated to Cecil the unfortunate lion. " I was a bit scared of the lion biting the man's arm, i thought his arm would fall off!" said Sadie aged 4.

For every trick, a young (and sometimes grown-up) audience member is selected to assist with hilarious results.  Instead of a bunny in a hat, there's a raccoon-like soft toy called Rocky who is brought to life, much to the amusement of the kids. "I thought it was funny when Rocky had to jump through the fire hoop." said Amber, aged 5.

When it comes to sheer entertainment value, The Magic Circus is a safe bet - you can't go wrong. And it's the perfect show if you have children of a wide age range - from two to 12, it's bound to have them on the edge of their seats and screeching with delight.
