The Magic Porridge Pot and Other Tasty Tales Reader's Review
The Magic Porridge Pot and Other Tasty Tales
This show was dish of the day for a three course meal - Porridge, Stone Soup and the Gingerbread Man. Run by a one man band, a wonderfully nutty storyteller, a classic children's entertainer, who has the audience in raptures from the first moment to the last. Excellent puppetry and amusing characters (a dog, who can fly like a butterfly using his ears, a wise granny and cheeky gingerbreadman) played out a few twists on these traditional fairy tales.
In the first story, Lottie and Rose (twins, aged 4 1/2) explained that 'we could shout out "Stop Porridge Pot, Stop Stop Stop", but the pot didn't speak Dog, so it went everywhere until the Granny saw a Porridge pavement, collected it up and took it home'. Lottie liked the exploding porridge best - and she got to throw some back on stage.
Loads of interaction and joining in - we are still saying, 'Stone Soup, Hmmm..' and stroking our imaginary beards (even if we don't have such a fine set of whiskers and beard as the performer).
There are plenty of laugh aloud moments and some really fun songs, which you can take away, if you wish on a CD of the show.
This show was one of Rose's favourites and she liked 'all of it'!
Cracking Fringe entertainment for the whole family.
