Ockham's Razor: Arc and Every Action... Reader's Review
Ockham's Razor: Arc and Every Action...
Ockham's Razor: Arc and Every Action… was an aerial show in two parts. The first half was slower and more thoughtful, exploring the relationships between the performers as they climbed and swung from an aerial raft. The story, told without words to a beautiful score, revolved around three people who are stranded together, and how as their relationships change their feelings towards each other affect the balance of the group as a whole. My children very much enjoyed the aerial artistry on display.
After a short interval while the equipment was changed, the second half was set to a livelier piece of music and was a more lighthearted, comical story. The four performers gathered around the two ends of a huge rope threaded through two pulleys - anything a performer did at one end had to be balanced at the other end. This was really entertaining and the performers made it very comical.
Both pieces were exciting and impressive due to the skill and talent of the performers - as well as the aerial and circus skills on display, the performers were all great at using body language and facial expressions to convert exactly what was going on.
Both my children were impressed with the artistry of the performers. My daughter, 7, thought 'it was very good and impressive. I thought they were so good at it and they didn't fall down. it looked really fun.' while my 11 year old son said 'I liked how they used the ropes, their technique of climbing up the ropes was extremely interesting to watch and there were funny parts too. I wished that I was doing it!'
This show is a U but isn't specifically for children. There are subtleties to the performances that may be lost, but if you have a slightly older primary age child interested in seeing an aerial performance this is definitely worth checking out.
