The Periodic Fable delivered on all levels, and my son exclaimed that it was his favourite Edinburgh Fringe show yet this year. The entertaining cast of three, including Erin McCardie and Karen Fraser as the somewhat struggling scientists and their not-so-evil supervisor, played by Bruce Morton, delighted the audience with their panto style comedy and science experiments, a combination which the event flyer dubs ‘Panto Science.’
Great family entertainment in the brilliant setting of the Ballroom at the Assembly Rooms on George Street. The pacing is excellent, and there are lots of opportunities for audience participation from children yelling to warn the scientists when their Big Lab Book is about to be snatched by the meddling supervisor to singing along to their catchy signature song, “You don’t need a beard to be a scientist, you just need to use your brain. Science is for everyone!” Well worth the ticket price!
Parents and children alike enjoyed the jokes and were wowed by the science experiments. The hour passed quickly, with lots to enjoy and learn. Suitable for all ages. My six year old and I can highly recommend it!
