Sean Murphy - Kids' Part Confidential Reader's Review
Sean Murphy - Kids' Party Confidential
Primary Times reader quote
"I laughed so much, it was a really funny show all about things that go wrong at birthday parties"
- Robin aged 6
Every child loves a good birthday party, right? And by the time they're 9 they've probably been to at least 100. That makes them the party experts, and these experts' input and opinions form the backbone of Sean Murphy's free comedy show for children. There's party paraphernalia galore - the hates, balloon swords, a (fake) cake and unruly party guests, hosted by Murphy's party entertainer alter-ego dressed in an aging spiderman suit.
Quick-thinking and energetic, Murphy engages his young audience in an interactive re-enactment of the trials and tribulations of kids' parties - the highs, the lows, the tears and the party bully who spoils it for everyone else. Everyone in the audience is asked to choose a party name for themselves and a handful of older children are selected to participate in telling the story.
With much of the direction and material coming from the children, every performance is sure to be unique. Murphy's rapid-fire humour and rapport with the young crowd makes for a fast-paced an wickedly funny show that resonates with kids and parents alike. And what's more, it's free...though a generous donation would be appropriate.
