You might think that if you've seen a drumming show, you've seen all drumming shows. But Taiko or Japanese drumming is something else. This group of mostly teenage boys and girls raised the roof (and probably all the roofs on the street) with their incredible energy, co-ordinated rhythm and sheer power. The boys and girls alternated their moments of taking centre stage, while a huge gong like drum hung right in the middle at the back of stage. Occasionally this was mastered by one of the younger men and the elder of the group who came forward to address the appreciative audience from his scroll like script.
Not for the fainthearted or for those with sensitive ears! That said, a spectacular display! As my 5 year old son said "the best show I have seen this year. You should go and see it because it's so loud". And as my 10 year old daughter said "I loved the Japanese jumpsuit!”.
