Shakespeare Untold: The Pie Maker's Tale - Titus Andronicus Reader's Review

Shakespeare Untold: The Pie Maker's Tale - Titus Andronicus

I approached this show with some nervousness as both my children generally prefer more pantomime style shows or anything with slime but I was determined to see something with a little more substance that we could all enjoy. My fears were unjustified as this clever little one man show drew us all in from the start with a simple ticking clock and kept our attention right through. There is an unusual use of objects to signify characters in the Titus story and some well placed audience participation to keep the smaller ones engaged. The acting was brilliant with a perfect entertaining and likeable manner carrying the black humour perfectly and softening the real horror of the tale. My little girl is 5 and although she enjoyed it I would say she was too young to follow the whole plot but it was perfect for a seven year old boy who especially loved all the gory bits. This show achieves the difficult challenge of entertaining whilst educating and appealing to all ages so I would really recommend it.
