Brave Macbeth Primary Times Children's Choice Awards Review

Brave Macbeth is an absolute delight, funny, fast-paced and very well acted. The cast act, sing and joke their way through the tragic story of Macbeth, told as never before. The play is faithful to the story of Macbeth, and the cast make sure the finer points of the plot, and any potentially confusing Shakespearean language, is explained to the audience. This is seamlessly done, never patronising or clunky, but part of a very entertaining whole.

Plenty of songs and action kept the audience rapt throughout and there was a lot of laughter, from adults and children alike. I am reluctant to say too much about what made us laugh so much, as it would spoil the many surprises, but there was an attention to detail and a way of managing the small cast and the movement of props on and off the stage that kept the audience fully engaged throughout.

Go and see it for the entertainment value, as a bonus your children will leave with a good idea of the plot, the main characters and whether they are good or bad.  And if they've never heard of a soliloquy they will be eager to find out as a result of the running soliloquy gag.

As the show finished to clapping and cheering from the audience my children said, pretty much in unison, "that was amazing!!" and I agreed, I'm not sure I could think of a better Fringe show if you want a fun-filled hour for your family.

Child's Quote

My 9 year old daughter said "It was extremely funny and I liked how people didn't have to join in. The characters were really good and it was really fun and amazing and I enjoyed it so much. I would give it 30 stars out of of 10!" while my 13 year old son "...thought it was absolutely amazing, really well done and they managed to fit a lot into the time. It's a great show, really interesting and funny."
