The Brick City exhibition offers a great opportunity not just to see some amazing Lego creations and to witness the "Masterbuilders" at work, but also to see the amazing renovation of Riddle's Court. The exhibition grows as the Festival runs, with more details being added to the massive city area daily. However, there are also other models to see.
The kids (7&8) liked spotting some of the little details, such as Batman pushing a pram in one scene, or Yoda at the racetrack. A clear highlight for all of us was the ability to ask Warren and Teresa questions. From how many bricks were in the unikitties to whether designs were used or items built free hand, it was fascinating insight, as was their imprsssive Lego filing system.
The exhibition cleverly mixes intricate large scale models with smaller ones which are either from kits you may have at home, or could attempt to build with regular bits of Lego. This mix made us (parent and children alike) want to have a go at building more Lego projects ourselves at home. The kids loved seeing the models, as did I, but as a parent I could also see the educational benefit as they started to think, albeit at their level, about the engineering involved in some designs. Regardless of age, there is something for everyone at this exhibition.
Rachel, 7, said "I liked being able to ask Teresa how she built the huge Unikitties. The big city scene was my favourite."
Thomas, 8, said "I want to have a job like Warren's and build Lego. The boat and the race track were my favourites"
