Colourful Games Childrens Choice Award review

Colourful Games

It caters beautifully for it's intended audience and the children were quite simply engaged and mesmerised.

Review:

This is a beautiful interactive show for tiny tots! The production from Lithuania creates a mesmerising mixture of music, dance, colour and hands on fun which kept everyone entertained. The excitement in little ones’ eyes when they realise they are allowed and encouraged to touch, play and join in is priceless.

Ribbons, sponges, hoops, balls: the surprises just get better and better as the performance unfolds. I was slightly worried that my more “spirited” toddler was not going to be happy when she realised she had to hand toys back, but the lovely dancer (whose name we never found out) managed the whole situation brilliantly and had the children eating out of her hands so to speak. This is simple but highly effective entertainment for the youngest festival goers and the stated age range of 0-3 is exactly right.

To help you prepare: Contrary to what the main fringe brochure states, the performance is at 11am NOT 10.45am. The Zoo venue website has the correct times. The doors don’t open until a few minutes before the show starts, and you have to wait on the street, so you might want to bear that in mind if it’s going to be wet. There is both a café across the road and some extra space in the box office area if you need to wait in the rain. If it’s fair there is a little garden across the road (behind the billboards) which would be more pleasant to wait in. To enter the venue, you have to go down about 6 reasonably steep steps, however there is a very kind man to help you carry any buggies down. Otherwise buggies can be stored in the “Green Room” next to box office (round the corner).
