Hairy Maclary Primary Times Children's Choice Award Review
If you love Hairy Maclary books by Lynley Dodd, you will love this show.
The production team have used the well-loved illustrations for background settings and the animal costumes were truly adorable.
Miss Plum is the main narrator, along with Sam Stone. They start by teaching the children a song about Hairy Maclary, all the children were clapping and stamping their feet.
They introduced Hairy Maclary (from Donaldson’s Dairy), Hercules Morse, Bottomley Potts, Muffin McLay, Bitzer Maloney and Schnitzel Von Krumm. Children were encouraged to copy the dogs by shaking their heads, crossing paws, scratching their ears, giving a paw etc.
Children were asked to look out for pictures of the dogs on stage throughout the show and then shout out to the cast once they found them.
The simple plots to these stories captured even the youngest of childrens’ attention. Each story from the book is set to catchy music and reflecting the nature of each animal character including Scarface Claw and Zachary Quack.
You were able to take photographs at the end of the performance.
Everyone gave a huge round of apaws (their joke) at the end.
