Primary Times Children's Choice Awards review of The Showstoppers' Kids Show
Our Primary Times' review:
This is a delightful upbeat show with (very talented) performers who completely surrender themselves to the creative silliness and whim of childhood imagination with hilarious results.
The cast and musicians create a musical show on the spot based entirely on audience suggestions. And the best bit is kids have total control over the storyline. Our musical was set on a banana planet run by a really shy banana, who encountered life changing challenges when reincarnated a snake who locked Boris Johnson in a room with the crown jewels… oh and Brexit actually happened and we saw the result! But your experience will be entirely different – and I wager, just as good.
Never mind the kids, I’m tempted to go see the adult version of the show which runs in the evenings during the festival. Extra bonuses the venue gives you a good view wherever you sit. The cast take suggestions from everywhere in the audience, not just the front rows. Lots of opportunity for kids to get involved in the show and they are encouraged to come and meet and draw the show with the cast at the end of the performance which my crew loved.
Madeline aged 9 said “they were really cheerful characters and it was amazing how they just made up the story line from everyone’s suggestions” Elsa (5) said “I loved it when I got to go on the stage and help with the fruit bugs” Grace (5) said “I liked all the different characters and how they looked and that there was a banana planet in the show.”
