Parents Encouraged to Ask Schools About Interactive “Language Market” for French and Spanish
Parents are being encouraged to let their school and PTA know about an exciting new workshop that helps primary pupils practise speaking French and Spanish in a fun, real-life setting.
The Language Market is an interactive Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) workshop that transforms the classroom into a lively marketplace. During the session, pupils take on the roles of shoppers and stallholders, practising simple conversations in French or Spanish as they buy and sell items.
The school is transformed into a lively marketplace where different areas are set up as colourful stalls. As children move around the stall, they use everyday vocabulary to ask for items, talk about colours and numbers, say prices, and carry out simple transactions. This interactive environment allows pupils to practise key language skills while building confidence in speaking and listening.
The founder of MFL Workshop decribed the event as a unique experience for primary pupils. “our aim is to offer something very different from a traditional language lesson, where children explore languages through conversation in a lively market style setting”
The Language Market supports the primary MFL curriculum and provides schools with an engaging way to reinforce classroom learning. Workshops can be delivered directly in schools and are suitable for language enrichment days, curriculum support sessions or themed learning events.
