Game On This May Half Term at RHS Garden Hyde Hall

From giant garden games and veggie races, families are invited to let the good times grow at Hyde Hall’s Great Garden Game‑a‑thon

Families looking for a fun-filled day out this May half‑term can head outdoors for The Great Garden Game‑a‑thon at RHS Garden Hyde Hall, taking place 23–31 May. Set against the stunning backdrop of one of Essex’s most loved gardens, the event promises big laughs, friendly competition and hands-on activities for all ages.

Young and old alike can jump into a playful programme of supersized garden games, including giant four in a row, tumbling blocks, dominoes, hook and ring, bean bag toss and noughts & crosses - perfect for some light‑hearted family rivalry.

Children can also explore the grass labyrinth before getting stuck into the Veg Olympics, a hilariously wholesome set of challenges featuring potato-and-spoon races, carrot relays and plenty of giggles along the way.

And if the weather doesn’t cooperate? No worries - indoor games ensure the fun continues whatever the forecast.

Visitors on Tuesday 26 May can also enjoy a special storytelling walk around the garden, bringing nature and imagination together.

Located just outside Chelmsford, RHS Garden Hyde Hall is open daily from 10am, with free parking available. Simply follow the brown signs from the A130 southbound.

Ticket prices:
• Children: £6.00
• Adults: from £17.20
• RHS Members and under‑fives: Free
