Build the Fort

27th-28th July 2024

Time: 10:00
Address: Portsdown Hill Road, Fareham PO17 6AN
Venue: Fort Nelson
Website: royalarmouries.org

As well as engineers and surveyors, it took hundreds of skilled labourers called navvies to erect this massive red brick defence. Have a go at the fun construction challenges this summer and find out how Fort Nelson was built. Each summer holiday weekend there are several have-a-go themed activities. Could you be a surveyor? A muckshifter? Or a bricklayer? Do you have what it takes to be a navvy? Or perhaps you could design your own Fort Nelson or a ditch digging machine. It’s time to roll up your sleeves and find out! So, grab your navvy passport, collect all the stickers and claim a special ‘payment’ at the end of the summer for all your hard work. 10am-5pm.
