Forever home appeal for crossbreed at Shropshire RSPCA centre

A special rehoming appeal has been launched for a one-of-a-kind dog

Tyson is currently being cared for by staff and volunteers at RSPCA Gonsal Farm Animal Centre and is looking for his forever home.

However, sadly despite being available for rehoming for three months he has had very little interest.

Kennel and Cattery Supervisor Neil Richardson said: “Tyson is a truly special dog and is certainly one of a kind. He is such an affectionate boy, who loves a good cuddle and he would enjoy a home where he has a nice sofa for him to snooze on.

“We have fallen in love with him at the centre, so we are very surprised he has not received much attention from potential adopters.”

Tyson has been available for rehoming since the end of May.

Neil added: “It took a while for us to improve his basic training, but he walks really well on lead now. He also had sore ears which, although now cleared up, also held him back for rehoming in the beginning.

“Tyson is tolerant of other dogs, but does not appreciate face to face interactions, therefore his new walks must either have no dogs present or space for him to avoid them.

“Tyson is also looking for a home without other pets, and children would need to be over 15 years of age.

“He is such a lovely lad, who unfortunately has had very little, if any, interest at all from the public. He just needs someone to come in and meet him and they will fall in love with him instantly, just like we have.”

To express an interest for Tyson please fill out an online application form.

Shropshire is also home to one independent RSPCA branch - RSPCA Shropshire as well as RSPCA Gonsal Farm Animal Centre who rehabilitate and rehome rescued animals.

The latest available figures show that in the ten years up until the end of 2022 the RSPCA centre and branch have found new homes for a staggering 6,442 animals.

Every five minutes in summer, someone calls us to report an animal being abused - and cruelty cases can reach a terrible peak at this time of year. No animal deserves heartbreaking abuse. That’s why we’ve launched the RSPCA Summer Cruelty Appeal in our 200th anniversary year because we need to take action together to help animals. It’s the responsibility of us all to show kindness and compassion to all animals; everyone for every kind.
