BAYMAX, STAR OF DISNEY’S BIG HERO 6 ANNOUNCED AS ‘MOST HUGGABLE CHARACTER OF 2015’ BY NATIONAL HUGGING DAY™!
After much deliberation and even more hugging, Baymax, the lovable personal healthcare companion and star of Walt Disney Animation Studio’s action-packed comedy adventure and BAFTA and Academy Award® Nominated film BIG HERO 6, has been named the ‘Most Huggable Character of 2015’ on National Hugging Day™!
The coveted award was presented by the Ambassador of Hugs, Kevin Zaborney, founder and creator of National Hugging Day™. Baymax humbly accepted the award from his residence in San Fransokyo where he attributed the honour to his “non-threatening, huggable design” and said he looks forward to spending the upcoming year giving and receiving hugs from all.
This weekend Baymax attended the Gala Screening of BIG HERO 6 in London where guests were treated to giant hugs from the adorable star and quizzed on who they would most like to hug on National Hugging Day™, which takes place today. Celebrities including the likes of Michelle Heaton, Imogen Thomas, Louis Bloor and YouTube sensations Dan & Phil were just a few of the names that got the chance to experience one of Baymax’s award-winning hugs.
When asked who they would be most excited about hugging this National Hugging Day™, Phil’s response to the question was simply a very excitable; “I’VE JUST HUGGED BAYMAX!” This was followed by Dan’s response which was; “Are you kidding me?! I can’t go back to hugs with humans after that experience!”
The Most Huggable Character Award coincides with this month’s National Hugging Day™ held annually on January 21st. National Hugging Day™ was created to encourage people around the world to show more affection in public. There is only one way you are supposed to celebrate the holiday: offer a hug to anyone and everyone you want. If you plan on hugging Baymax however, please be sure to empty your pockets of any and all sharp objects first!
