Save the Children launches Save the Children Club for children aged 7-11

Save the Children has today launched a new membership scheme for children that allows 7-11 year olds from the UK to discover what life is like for similar aged children living in difficult circumstances around the world.

Designed to spark a child’s curiosity, imagination and empathy, the Save the Children Club aims to be both educational and fun with playful activities set to be interspersed with factual information throughout a membership year. The club allows children to have a space in order to celebrate things in their lives that are the same, whilst starting to understand what makes their lives different, from children in other parts of the world.

Once signed up, all members will receive a welcome pack that includes a world map, badge and stickers, followed by three further activity packs being sent out to members each year that will each focus on a girl or boy from a different country. Other membership pack highlights might include activities such as playing a child’s favourite game, learning a few words from their language, making a model of their house, reading their favourite story and cooking a local dish they would typically eat during mealtimes.

Sarah Martin, a Save the Children Club spokesperson says: “We are really excited to be launching Save the Children Club and already we have seen engagement and support amongst the mummy blogger community. The club aims to give children the opportunity to learn about other children like them all over the world – opening up their world and broadening their horizons. I feel immense pride in the fact we are offering children in the UK the chance to learn about children around the world. Watching a child grow by helping them understand their place in the world a little more is one of the most rewarding things we could do to build a more empathetic world”.

As well as activity packs distributed throughout the year, members will also have access to new activities, quizzes and films of Save the Children Club featured children through an exclusive members’ website.

Save the Children Club is available now to all children aged 7-11 years old in the UK for a monthly donation from a parent and/or guardian of just £7.50. All club membership money will directly support Save the Children’s work around the world – meaning other children get the chance of a better future.
