The Roald Dahl Estate teams up with YouTube Kids to create an exclusive app playlist encouraging children to be exploratory with learning as they head back to school

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the world's number one storyteller, Roald Dahl, his grandson - Ned Donovan - has created a playlist of the most magical content available on YouTube Kids which compliments his late grandfather's work.

The playlist, entitled ‘Celebrating 100 Years of Roald Dahl on YouTube Kids’ which is now live, is one of a handful of guest created playlists live on YouTube Kids for learning month. As the start of the school term looms, and children lament the loss of school holidays, YouTube Kids seeks to inspire a love of learning with the #TodayILearned activation. Known for his love of educational nonsense and the ability to open a child’s mind into an otherwise unimaginable world, Roald Dahl is the perfect treasure to hero creative learning on the platform.

With step-by-step arts and crafts with Claudia Winkleman to BFG story time with David Walliams, children are invited to explore the magic of learning through Ned Donovan’s carefully selected content. Donovan says “It's really exciting to see how, 100 years after his birth, my grandfather's work continues to captivate and inspire millions of children around the planet.”

He continues: “Roald once said that 'those who don't believe in magic will never find it.' I hope the YouTube Kids playlist designed to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl can guide a new generation, to the gloriumptious magic of the world's number one storyteller. Whether it's learning to draw with Quentin Blake, or reading Matilda with Kate Winslet, thanks to YouTube Kids regardless of where you are, a new door into the world of Roald Dahl has been opened.”

Be it science, sports, literature, arts and crafts or even theatrics YouTube Kids has something for everyone to become immersed in a new topic every single day.

Popular edu-tuber and Cbeebies presenter Maddie Moate has also created playlist to spark curiosity in the young minds of today for #TodayILearned month. Maddie’s playlist entitled Get Curious identifies a range of learning techniques to encourage intrigue around particular subjects and help young minds to absorb classroom lessons in a varied way. Get Curious features 25 videos covering topics from explorationcreativityasking questionsvisiting museumsreadingsinging and many more.

The Get Curious playlist offers channels presented by kids, for kids, including WhizzKidScienceKid President and EvanTubeHD. Maddie has highlighted an array of female science communicators to encourage interest from both boys and girls in the world of STEM from an early age.

“My own YouTube channel is all about inspiring my audience to “Stay Curious”, to encourage them to get out into the world, ask questions and discover new things, so the aim for my YouTube Kids playlist was to carry the same message and remind us all that learning should be awesome!” Said Maddy. She continued: “Hopefully these will inspire kids to get out there, get curious and be proud to share their new discoveries for themselves!”

YouTube Kids is an award winning app and a key part of the YouTube family. It provides a creative and educational outlet for children to explore the digital world, dig deeper in topics they are interested in and discover new areas of fun and learning they did not know existed. The platform inspires immersive learning by encouraging children to explore content within a controlled environment so you know they are in good hands.

You can download the YouTube Kids App free from Google Play here or from the App store here.
