Livestream Learning sessions from the Roald Dahl Museum

Bring the Roald Dahl Museum and its experts right into your classroom! Join our experienced session leaders for a live interactive online school session direct from the home of the Roald Dahl Archive.

We’ll take your class behind-the-scenes of the Museum to discover some of Roald Dahl’s writing processes. Using our unique resource of Roald Dahl’s archive your class will learn from the World’s No. 1 Storyteller to develop their own creative writing skills. Our archive contains hundreds of treasures including many of Roald Dahl’s early manuscripts and drafts of his most famous books, including The BFG and Matilda. Your pupils will get to see some of these up-close – something you can only experience at the Roald Dahl Museum!

Your students will also get to take a look around other areas of our Museum, including Roald Dahl’s original Writing Hut. They’ll peek inside the magical place where Roald Dahl wrote his best-loved stories for children and discover some surprising secrets along the way.

In our Crafting Characters sessions, your pupils will learn how Roald Dahl was inspired by his real-life experiences to create his famous characters. They’ll discover how a local builder and a mean sweetshop owner shaped Roald Dahl’s ideas and gain their own amazing skills in character creation.

Our virtual school sessions are perfect for Years 2 to 8 and are interactive, fast-paced and fun. Your pupils will get the chance to ask us questions and will take part in activities throughout. We’ll provide resources for you to print in advance and use during the session, plus you’ll also receive extra printable materials to use after the session, including follow-on activities and fact sheets.

Our experienced team have been offering sold-out on-site sessions for over 10 years, and we know your class will love our new virtual version. You can join us from anywhere in the country (or world!). Whichever Roald Dahl books you’re reading with your class, your pupils will gain valuable insights into how Roald Dahl wrote and take away skills they can apply to their own writing.
