Families across the UK are signing up for Walk of Hope

Hundreds of walkers to put their best foot forward to help find a brain tumour cure

This year’s Walk of Hope takes place on Saturday 30th September.

The ever-popular Walk of Hope is a national fundraising event which attracts hundreds every September and is a great way to bring school communities together whilst raising vital funds for Brain Tumour Research.

With one in three people knowing someone affected by a brain tumour and more children and adults under the age of 40 being killed by the devastating disease than any other cancer, the charity is asking you to support families within your community who know the pain of a brain tumour diagnosis. Join one of 11 organised Walks of Hope across the UK or organise your own by getting pupils, teachers and parents involved in raising vital funds to help find a cure for brain tumours.

Many of the organised Walks of Hope are inspired by families with children affected by a brain tumour, including the three flagship walks in Luton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Ellsemere in Shropshire where there will be a fun-filled festival atmosphere including food and drink, music and activities to entertain the children. Eleanore Guthrie who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2019, aged four and has had seven operations and undergone proton beam therapy is the inspiration for the Newcastle Walk of Hope. Eleanore is now living with life-changing effects as a result of her brain tumour treatment.

The family of Aaron Wharton, who passed away at Easter this year, aged just seven, having been diagnosed three years earlier, have set up Aaron’s Army, a Fundraising Group for Brain Tumour Research to create a legacy for their little boy. They will be spearheading the Walk of Hope in Ellesmere, around a beautiful lake.

And in Luton, the walk is being led by four grieving families who have all lost children to the devastating disease. Renai Taylor-Fraser passed away aged 11, George Fox and Shay Patel were both 13 and Amani Liaquat was 23.
