Top tips on how to thank your teacher

As the school year draws to a close and with National Thank a Teacher Day taking place on the 19th of June, it's the perfect time to show our appreciation for the incredible work that takes place in education every day. Bobby Seagull, Maths teacher, broadcaster, and author of ‘The Life-Changing Magic of Numbers’ is sharing a few wonderful ways children and parents can show appreciation.

For us teachers, it's always the sentimental gifts that mean the most - there is no need to spend to say thank you. With this in mind students, children, and parents can all participate in showing their gratitude by sending a FREE e-card via the National Thank a Teacher website.

In addition to sending e-cards, children can also get involved by writing a story or drawing a picture which is a fun way for kids to engage too. Acclaimed author Sir Michael Morpurgo will be judging the writing competition once again, and beloved illustrator Rob Biddulph will be given the hard task of judging the drawing competition.

For those looking to go the extra mile, handmade gifts are a wonderful way to show appreciation. Here are some tips for the best handmade gifts for teachers:

1. Personalised Thank You Cards: A heartfelt note expressing gratitude can be cherished for years to come - send a FREE e-card via the National Thank a Teacher website.

2. Homemade Baked Goods: Cookies, cakes, or other treats made with love are always appreciated. I once received a giant homebaked custard cream!

3. DIY Plant Pots: Decorate small pots and plant herbs or flowers—a gift that can brighten any classroom.

4. Customised Bookmarks: Create unique bookmarks with personalised messages or designs.

5. Handcrafted Ornaments: Small decorative items, such as painted rocks or handmade keyrings, can be a daily reminder of your gratitude.

6. Photo Collages: Compile photos from the school year into a beautiful collage that captures memorable moments.

National Thank A Teacher Day is taking place on Wednesday 19th June 2024, where parents and students will have the chance to show their appreciation for teachers, lecturers, and support staff in schools across the country. You can send them a free personalised e-card at the link below to show how special they are, and how vital they are to your child's education.
