Take part in the Get Set for Positive Energy Competition

Primary schools across the UK are being called to take part in the Get Set for Positive Energy Competition, a national initiative by British Gas in partnership with Team GB and ParalympicsGB. Running from 23rd January to 25th April 2025, the competition challenges pupils to design a creative banner which inspires their communities to make small everyday energy-saving changes.

Olympic and Paralympic icons Tom Daley and Ellie Simmonds are leading the charge, encouraging young people to pledge their commitment to sustainable living. Schools taking part have the chance to win incredible prizes...

The winning school will receive a prestigious £5,000 British Gas Positive Energy Grant and their design will be brought to life on a real banner which will be unveiled in a special Get Set for Positive Energy assembly hosted by a Team GB or ParalympicGB athlete.

There are also an amazing twenty-five £500 British Gas Positive Energy Grants and banners available to competition runners-up.

Last year, £25,000 worth of grants were awarded to schools across the UK, helping create greener, more energy-efficient learning environments. British Gas also provided expert advice to schools on improving energy efficiency, ensuring the prizes delivered lasting benefits.

The competition is part of the broader Get Set for Positive Energy programme, which combines sustainability with Olympic and Paralympic Values. Free, curriculum-linked resources are available to schools, supporting teachers in fostering environmental awareness and empowering pupils to take action on climate change.

James Corcoran, Head of Brand Partnerships for British Gas says: “British Gas are incredibly proud of Get Set for Positive Energy and the impact it continues to have on young people and their communities. This initiative embodies our commitment in energising a greener, fairer future, inspiring the next generation to use their positive energy to drive change toward sustainability. Together with our partners Team GB and ParalympicsGB, and with the support of incredible role models like Tom Daley and Ellie Simmonds, we can all make small changes that have a big impact.”

By participating, schools will not only inspire their pupils to think critically about energy-saving actions but also join British Gas, Team GB, and ParalympicsGB in championing a greener, fairer future.

Entries close on 25th April 2025. Visit www.getset.co.uk/everydayenergycompetition for more information.
