Premier League Primary Stars launches New Building Self-Esteem Resource for primary school pupils this Children’s Mental Health Week
Premier League Primary Stars has launched a powerful new educational resource aimed at helping primary school pupils understand and build their self-esteem. The Building Self-Esteemresource provides engaging activities and lessons that encourage young learners to reflect on their personal strengths, embrace their identity, and cultivate positive attitudes that contribute to their growth and well-being.
As part of the initiative, Premier League Primary Stars has developed a variety of lessons that focus on key aspects of self-esteem - what it is, how it’s shaped, and how pupils can strengthen it over time. Through a combination of reflection and interactive activities, pupils are encouraged to accept mistakes, try new things, and engage in positive self-talk. This empowers them to develop resilience, improve their confidence, and establish a growth mindset.
TheBuilding Self-Esteemresource has been developed with input from PSHE experts and primary school teachers, ensuring that the activities are both effective and curriculum compliant. The resource aligns with the PSHE curriculum for Key Stage 2 in England and Health and Well-being progression steps 2 and 3 in Wales.
Designed to be easy to implement, the resource features a range of engaging content, including youth voice films. In these films, young people discuss the importance of self-esteem in language that resonates with their peers. Additionally, the resource includes insights from Premier League players such as Jordan Pickford, Eddie Nketiah, and Archie Gray, who share their personal reflections on what self-esteem means to them, offering pupils real-world examples of how confidence plays a key role in success.
The launch of this new resource is perfectly timed with Children’s Mental Health Week, which takes place from 3rd to 9th February 2025. With mental health at the forefront, this resource offers an ideal opportunity for teachers to address the importance of self-esteem in the classroom and help pupils navigate the complexities of personal growth and well-being.
The Building Self-Esteemresource is designed not only to help pupils recognise their worth, but also to create a more inclusive and supportive classroom environment. Through its focus on teamwork, self-reflection, and the celebration of diversity, the resource provides pupils with the tools they need to foster a positive mindset that will benefit them both inside and outside of school.
By offering clear guidance and practical tools, the Building Self-Esteem resource empowers teachers to lead lessons that encourage personal growth, promote inclusivity, and boost pupils’ confidence. The resource equips teachers with everything they need to help pupils feel proud of who they are, while creating an atmosphere where every pupil can thrive.
With its engaging content, expert-backed approach, and focus on real-world impact, the Building Self-Esteem resource is set to become an invaluable tool for teachers across the country, supporting both their pupils’ mental well-being and their academic success.
