Free green skills teaching resources for World Earth Day

As World Earth Day approaches on April 22nd, teachers looking for engaging ways to bring sustainability into the classroom now have access to free green skills resources, thanks to E.ON’s New Energy Academy.

Designed for students aged 11–14, the Academy equips young people with the skills they’ll need to build a more sustainable future - highlighting how science, technology, and sustainability intersect across a wide range of careers.

What is the New Energy Academy?

The Academy is a free teaching resource packed with interactive activities, PSHE lesson plans, and videos that introduce students to the green skills shaping tomorrow’s workforce. These essential skills - such as problem-solving, adaptability, and resilience - are critical for driving the energy transition.

With sustainability becoming a key focus across industries, the programme helps students explore career paths beyond traditional STEM roles, including fields like AI, data science, marketing, and energy.

Exciting competition for schools

To inspire young minds even further, E.ON is running a special competition, inviting students to nominate their own sustainability trailblazer - someone who motivates them to make a difference in their community.

🏆 The prize?
The winning school will receive a visit from football legend Fara Williams MBE, who will deliver an inspiring talk alongside a live green skills workshop for the entire year group.

With World Earth Day’s 2024 theme focusing on sustainability and climate action, the New Energy Academy offers the perfect way for teachers to engage students in these critical discussions. Whether through interactive lessons or the competition, the initiative provides an exciting opportunity for students to explore how they can play a role in shaping a greener future.
