Family friendly festivals and larger events in Norfolk 2022

This year we can celebrate the welcome return of many larger events and multi-day festivals.  We have compiled a list of some of our favourite family-friendly festivals for all ages that are taking place in Norfolk in 2022 and keep coming back as we will add more as they become available

Fairy Fair- 28th and 29th May 2022 at Bradmoor Woods in Norfolk

This magical celebration of nature in spring is designed for families with young children and organised by the conservation charity, The Fairyland Trust.  The whole event is designed to combine nature, arts, crafts, theatre and magical folklore.

Things to do at the event include nature and activity drop-ins , live music, market stalls, a show food and drink as well as festival style walkabout, storytelling and walks in the woods. There will also be bookable workshops focussing on magical nature that can be booked at the same time as booking your tickets online.

Drop in activities include Magical Moths, Beautiful Butterflies for craft lovers as well as opportunities to visit the Fairy King and Queen amongst many others.  The event finishes with a Royal Finale for everyone with an address by the Fairy Queen.  Tickets are just £11.37 including Eventbrite fees and can be booked via the website

 

Royal Norfolk Show - 29th and 30th June - Norfolk Showground, Weeting, Dereham

Over 700 trade stands, 3000 animals and hundreds of attractions with a full programme of events for all the family.

Activities include dog agility shows, pig racing, musicians and performers as well as a variety of food and drink stalls.  Under 5's go free.

Weeting Steam Rally - 15th to 17th July - Fengate Farm

Family day out filled with the nostalgia of steam. 

Family friendly with plenty to enjoy for all the family including steam engines, classic, vintage and military vehicles, tractors, fire engines, heavy horses, dog agility as well as a fun fair and food, drink and craft stalls.

Family Festival 2022 - 26th to 31st July at  Norwich Theatre venues 

Suitable for all families, this festival features an extensive line-up of theatre, additional drop-in sessions and free activities.

Worstead Festival - 30th July - Worstead, North Walsham

Volunteer run festival supporting local charities, not-for-profit and community projects throughout the Parish and Norfolk

Visitors can enjoy local art and craft stalls and food and drink as well as activities, attractions, workshops, demonstrations, music and entertainment.  Entry is free for under 12s.  Visit the Festival website

 

Festival of Sport - 12th to 15th August- Holkham

After a successful first year, Festival of Sport is returning to Holkham this August with an extra night added. 

Described as the ultimate family sports festival, visitors can experience entertainment, camping, competitions and coaching from world-class sporting legends.  Centred around a programme of core sports, the Festival provides an opportunity for children to try new sports for the first time whilst also receiving expert coaching and learning new skills in the sports that they already love.

Sports available will include rugby, hockey, cricket, football, gymnastics, netball, tennis, rowing and athletics.  There will also be taster sessions for sports such as trampolining, boxing, MMA, dodgeball and many more.

Alongside a full programme of activities for children there will also be taster sessions for adults, a host of wellness workshops, a family 5k and lots of fun and interactive sessions for the under 5s as well as live music and an open air cinema.

Aylsham Show - 29th August - National Trust Blickling Park

Return of the traditional one-day show for 2022. 

Visitors can enjoy animal exhibitions as well as displays in the main ring.  Sideshows will include classic cars amongst other activities.  Food and drink stalls will also be available.  Children 16 and under can enter for free and discounted tickets are available when buying in advance.  Find out more via the website.
