Knaves, based in Hampstead Garden Suburb, is a drama school for young people seeking professional-level training and performance, who take acting seriously, and who wish to become confident performers and speakers on and off the stage.
At Knaves, students of all abilities are encouraged and nurtured to create performances well beyond their years, while always having fun. Through theatre and Shakespeare, actors learn discipline, collaboration, and interdependence skills, to become the best version of themselves.
There are two performance classes at weekends for 6-11 and 12-18 years. These courses end with a professionally staged and costumed production in a North London theatre, allowing students the opportunity to perform demanding roles such as Bottom, Lady Macbeth, Malvolio, and Viola. Their current production is Macbeth, with performances in March 2024.
As well as the performance course, Knaves offers private tutorials for LAMDA exams and runs school holiday drama camps focusing on filmmaking and stage performances. Jason Thomas, the director of Knaves, trained at LAMDA and Guildford School of Acting, and worked as a professional actor. He is a qualified teacher and was Head of Drama at University College School for 10 years.
