SIXTH FORM AT ROCKPORT FROM SEPTEMBER 2015
Rockport is Northern Ireland’s only fully independent school – and, from September 2015, will have its own Sixth Form – enabling us to deliver a truly all-round day and boarding education to boys and girls, aged 3-18. Rockport is located in a stunning estate on the shores of Belfast Lough, with its own private shoreline.
As an independent school we are able to shadow the National Curriculum, but extend it considerably. We are able to maintain small class sizes of between 8-12 pupils. This means that every pupil is able to receive individual attention according to his/her particular needs and no pupil is able to slip through the net as they might at a larger school. The proof of this is our continually excellent academic results: in 2013, 44% of pupils were awarded A*-A in their GCSES, well above the UK average of 22.4%.
Being a small school also allows us to have a high level of individual pastoral care. Every pupil knows one another and every pupil is known by every member of staff.
A number of pupils are prepared for the Common Entrance exam, for entry to other leading independent schools at 13+, but an increasing number now choose to remain at Rockport for GCSE and, from September 2015, will also be able to finish their schooling by doing A-Levels and other vocational qualifications here.
The school is a member of the Round Square organisation, promoting internationalism and service. Already this term, pupils have visited Jordan to attend a Round Square Schools’ Conference.
Scholarships, Bursaries and discounts for HM Forces are available. We offer full, weekly and flexi-boarding options to suit individual family circumstances. Nursery education is available mornings and afternoons (on a completely flexible basis) for the benefit of working families.
