Joint school choir performance marks Shared Education Week
A special cross community choir performance in Cloonavin has marked Northern Ireland’s first Shared Education week.
Promoting the ethos of living and learning together, pupils from Killowen Primary School and St Malachy’s Primary School sang an original song to an audience which included the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Councillor Brenda Chivers. The lyrics illustrated the importance of working together and respecting each other.
Following the performance, the Mayor said: “I would like to congratulate pupils and staff from both schools who have done so much to promote shared education. I was honoured to meet with those involved and I thoroughly enjoyed their entertaining performance. I have no doubt that these valuable lessons in working together will have a lasting impact. Young people are so important to our future and I would urge them all to keep living and learning together for the benefit of everyone.”
Shared Education Week takes place from Monday 8th October – Friday 12th October.
