Teachers UK surprise football super fan at Wynndale Primary School!

Wynndale Primary School in Mansfield held a special assembly to announce the news that one of their pupils had been nominated, and won, a full mascot day experience at Mansfield Town Football Club, courtesy of education recruitment specialists, Teachers UK.

During the special assembly, young football fan Louis Pearson (Year 2), may have been a little surprised to see his parents were waiting in the wings; but imagine his excitement when Sammy the Stag walked into assembly with Louise Hamby of Teachers UK and Gary Shaw, (Community Manager / Premier League Primary Stars Coordinator) of Mansfield Town Football in the Community.

Wynndale Primary School Class Teacher, Mrs Tebutt, said she was responsible for the nomination. “I nominated Louis Pearson for many reasons. He’s been working really hard on his reading which is having a massive impact and he’s just flying! He’s trying really hard in his writing and his handwriting and his attitude to learning is spot on! This is really nice for Louis as he is such a big football fan, it will be really special for him.”

Louis’s Mum and Dad, Rebecca Pearson and Adam Gibson, attended to see the prize given to Louis. “He won the prize for outstanding achievements in his work,” said Adam Gibson. “He is a massive Stags fan, so we weren’t sure whether he was going to be shy or cry when he got the news!” Mum Rebecca said that Louis thinks about football from the moment he wakes up. “At every Stags match we go to he always waits at the front to give Sammy a high five. He plays for AFC Mansfield in defence and he really looks up to the Mansfield Stags defenders. In fact, as soon as he wakes up, he’s playing football, even in the living room!”

Mum and dad will both attend the mascot day with Louis when he will get to meet the team and take a behind the scenes look on match day, finally leading the team out onto the pitch for the match. Louis said he was pleased with his prize. “I just love everything about football!”

Louise Hamby of Teachers UK, based at Mansfield’s I-Centre on Hamilton Way, said that it was fantastic that the prize went to such a dedicated football fan. “We looked at many nominations for the prize, but Louis and his commitment to his school work shone through. Now we have discovered that he is a huge Stags fan as well and it makes the prize even more special. We hope he and his family have a lovely day and we know that his experience with Mansfield Town Football in the Community and their dedicated team will make it a memory to cherish for Louis.”
