Stay Safe With Smoke Alarms

At Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS), the safety of you and your family is our top priority. We want to remind all families about the importance of having working smoke alarms in your home, and how they save lives.

Smoke alarms are one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your home and loved ones from the danger of fire. In fact, having a smoke alarm that works can double your chances of surviving a house fire. But it’s not enough to just have one on every level of your home – it’s essential that your smoke alarm is in good working order and tested regularly.

Each year, many lives are lost due to fires in homes that didn’t have working smoke alarms. Smoke alarms give you the vital early warning you need to escape if a fire starts. However, they only work if they are tested regularly.

At NFRS, we understand that life can get busy, and it can be easy to forget when it's time to test your smoke alarms. That’s why we’re excited to introduce our free email reminder service to help you stay on track!

If you sign up for our reminder service, we’ll send you a friendly email reminder every week to test your smoke alarms. This way, you’ll never forget to check them, and you can be confident that your smoke alarms are always ready in case of an emergency. Signing up is quick and simple – just visit our website and enter your email address. It’s completely free and ensures your family’s safety.

Remember, fire safety is everyone’s responsibility – get the whole family involved and make testing your smoke alarm a fun, family activity each week.

Stay safe, stay alert, and never forget to test your smoke alarms!
